I haven't worn this shirt for a while I've had it for about 4/5 years now. I love it but sometimes i'm not sure how it looks on me. Kept it casual as I went to see my nan and then now Ian and I are spending the night at my mums.

Jumper - Topshop/ T-Shirt - H&M/ Jeggings - Topshop/ Shoes - Converse/ Hat - Topshop/ Bag - Goji

Today was a very relaxed day and I've really started to feel the cold so I thought this was a great warm outfit.  The bag I have is actually a Laptop case. I liked it as my tablet fits in it with the case on whilst having just enough room for my phone and purse. Has a really cool strap for you to put your hand through too. I'm going to use it as a case for my tablet as well as using as a clutch.

Foody Friday - Mediterranean Burgers

Due to having to change our diets we've started looking at healthy recipes and 'The Hairy Biker's' diet cookbooks have quickly become our go to when looking for something to cook.
This is the first recipe we've tried.  It's packed full of flavour.  We decided to make homemade wedges.

Ingredients

1 Small Courgette
1 Medium onion
400g Lean Mince Beef
2 Garlic Clove
1 tsp Dried Oregano
 1 tsp Dried Basil
1 tbsp Tomato Puree
1 tsp Sunflower oil
4 Ciabatta Rolls

Makes 4 Burgers

Start by measuring out all the ingredients and putting it all together in a bowl.

Then mix the mince,  courgette, garlic, oregano, basil and onion together until they are Throughly combined.

You then separate the mixture to make 4 burgers.  We put 2 in the freezer and had 2 for dinner.

Brush frying pan with the oil and then place the burgers in the frying pan. Cooking them for 10 minutes.

We couldn't get cibatta rolls so we used wholemeal rolls.

To make our wedges we cut up new potatoes and put 1 tbsp sunflower oil and seasoned. We then put them in the oven at 200 for 25mins.

The burgers tasted amazing.  The original recipes says normal onions but I prefer the taste of a red onion. We also didn't have cibatta rolls. We used 25g mature cheddar as it's meant to be 100 calories. As we are trying to monitor the amount of calories we have.

Jumper/ Top/ Skirt - all Topshop/ Shoes - Vans/ Bracelet - Rhodes

The weather isn't too cold yet so I thought I'd risk wearing this skirt and showing a little leg. I wanted the outfit like yesterday to be smart but casual. I thought the Shoes and Vest top added some much needed colour.

Cardigan - Topshop/ Vest - H&M/ Trouser - Topshop/ Shoes - Vans

Todays outfit I wanted to be smart but casual. I have managed to secure myself a volunteer position at a school. I am a classroom/teaching assistant. I really enjoyed it and it has verified to me that I am on the right path.
Volunteering is the best way for me to get as much experience as possible working with children. I'm trying to get a place at a secondary school but I'm yet to hear anything. So fingers crossed I'll here something soon.

Monday Musings - Healthier Us

Its funny how things in life can change and force you to make a change in life. Ian and I will be the first to admit we are not healthy eaters and we don't really do any excercise. I'm not going to go in to the details but this week hasn't been easy. We don't even know all the details ourselves. Ian was told some news at the hospital and was told the best thing we can do is to make sure he is the healthiest and fitest he can be. Which has meant a bit of a lifestyle change so it's lots of excercise including; cycling, yoga, swimming etc. and then a change in the way we eat. We've borrowed the Hairy Biker's Diet cookbook from Ian's mum and then my mums bought us their second book. So we planned out our meals for the week and went food shopping. We didn't by any chocolate, sweets or treats which was hard. I've choosen four recipes to try this week, along with a few for next week. This is so I could get more meat for our money and make multiple meals out of it.
My "Foody Friday" posts will be featuring the recipes we use from the cookbooks. This has really given us the push we needed to make a change. We not going to go crazy and obsess to much otherwise it just won't work. We'd both like to lose some weight but the main aim is to feel fitter and healthier.
For me it is also about feeling good inside and out. I worry a lot and find it hard to relax so I'm hoping this will help. Especially the yoga. It is also getting me in the kitchen more. I love cooking but never know what to cook so what more of a reason to be cooking more. The best part is Ian and I are doing it together which means we're supporting each other. It's always better when you've got someone to do it with but you've also got to want to do it for yourself. Which we are, and even better it's encouraging us to try new things.

Rhodes Food

The hotel was all inclusive and there was an array of food to choose from. Every evening was different. It was difficult to get photographs as it was so busy. However, I have managed to get some of their beautiful desserts.

We also get to have two free visits to any of the three a la carte restaurants whilst there. We choose to firstly have some traditional Greek food which, is a big deal for Ian and I as we aren't great at trying new things. However, on this holiday we have tried to try lots of different things especially as they were on offer to us.

At the Greek A la Carte restaurant we were told to pick a main and a dessert as we would be brought all their starters. When they were all laid out of the table in front of us it was a bit overwhelming as there was so much just for the two of us. They brought us a traditional salad, a beef stew with feta sprinkled of top, bread dough things with mince meat inside, a bean salad, moussaka, bread roll each with dips and a weird things that was cheese and meat.

My favourite of the starters was this beed stew with feta crumbled on top. I wouldn't have thought the feta would taste good with it but it was delicious. Our main was a little strange meatballs wrapped in bacon. They were a little disappointing as they were cooked all the way through. The dessert was a chocolate pie and ice cream.

For our second visit to an A la Carte we choose to go to the Italian A la Carte. I wouldn't say it was very italian. A small part had pizza and pasta on but the rest was things like chicken and fish and it seemed to have a greek twist.

As a pre-starter we got brought bread rolls and dips(feta and herb, garlic butter and yoghurt) and cheesy garlic bread which looked more like bruschetta. I'm not a fan of tomatoes but thought I'd try it and it confirmed to me that I really don't like tomatoes.
For my starter I had a Rocket Salad which was lovely and light, followed by a main of Herb Crusted Salmon with rice and vegetables and finishing off with a Panna Cotta which I thought I'd try as I've never had one. I'm not really a fan but at least I gave it a go.

Overall the food was beautiful and it was lovely to have the opportunity to try lots of different things. I also give it to the Greeks for their desserts as they did some lovely desserts. Some of them were a bit sweet for me which is saying something as I have a real sweet tooth. I feel like I've eaten so much food on this holiday think I might have to start eating healthier to counteract the amount I ate.

I didn't take photographs of everything that I wore but here is some of the clothes I wore whilst on my holiday. A mixture of day and night oufits. The last one is what I wore home.
When packing for my holiday I kept in mind that it was only a week. I wanted to pack light as I'm usually one of those people that over pack. I had a lot of things I knew I could mix and match. Which meant I'd get multiple use out of things. I think I did really well when packing and I was super surprised how many outfits I could make. I semi planned what I could wear with what so that I didn't take something and not be able to wear it.

Foody Friday - Tom Kerridge

I've been watching Tom Kerridge's show "Proper Pub Food" the food he cooks is amazing. The ingredients are very indulgent and in no way does it worry about calories. So far my favourite episode was the one dedicated to the outdoors. Inspired by the British sumer spent in beer gardens. He makes chicken in a basket with a southern fried twist, fish burger, sticky bbq ribs, a warm tomato salad and a maple tcake cooked on a bbq.
Along with this be takes you to suppliers and gives some great tips.
The show is to go alongside his new cookbook.

This show is definitely worth a go. You can watch it on BBC 2 on Mondays.

Rhodes Holiday Village

As I said in my previous post Ian and I were amazed by our room and the hotel. The hotel is split into three parts which, are the Relax, Deluxe and Activity area's. We stayed in to Relax area where it was all laid back. The activity part is where all the action happens like the entertainment, water slides and general activities and the Deluxe is for deluxe guests only but it has the same vibe as the Relax area.
This are some photographs from the hotel.

We tended to stay in the Relax area where we were located but we ventured to the activity area for the water slides and lazy river. Also we had all our meals over there. The hotel is beautiful and has something for everyone. Although it is solely aimed at families it is also aimed at couples old and young. With its adult only bar and adult only activities. There were quite a lot of children around but it didn't really bother us as you don't see them all the time as they have there own kids activities and clubs.
