Monday Musings - Weddings

Weddings can be a stressful time for anyone, but does it really need to be like that?
For Ian and I we are laid back about it all, for us it's not just about the day. We are excited for the marriage and to spend the rest of our lives together as husband and wife.
We decided to have a wedding in May, only giving us 5 months to plan everything. Everyone started to freak out and worry when we told them. We have now been told repeatedly we've not got enough time and that we must be crazy.
That's not how we see it at all. We are both on the same page about everything, which has made decision making really straight forward.
Within the space of three weeks I've ordered my dress, got my shoes, Ian has his suit, we've booked the ceremony and reception along with picking our florist.
I think we've made a great start. We've started sending out our invites and we can't wait to sort the rest of the wedding out.

All of this got me thinking about weddings and why people find them so stressful. Yes Ian and I have those relatives you worry about and a few other little worries, but not enough to make us stressed. We're finding the process really fun and we're thinking about  what we want instead of what people might want or prefer.
I think with weddings, worries of money and pleasing or impressing people is what causes stress. Weddings can cost a fortune and it can be hard to keep an eye on things. For Ian and I we know we want to spend as little as possible on our day, whilst still having the day we want. As for impressing or pleasing people it's not our concern. We want the day we want. We aren't about to start changing the theme and feel of our day to suit others, we do however hope everyone has a nice time.
Everyone is different and I guess it depends on the type of wedding you're having, but I don't think it needs to be a stressful time. In fact it should be the best time of your life.
So to those of you planning a wedding just focus on the fun and excitement and it'll all work out.

A Little Update

A lot of things have been going on over here the last few months. Of course Ian and I have set a date for our wedding so it's all go on that front.
Away from that though I have been a bit up and down in the last few jobs I've had.
My contract ended in July for the job I had been doing, which left me not knowing what I was going to do. I joined an agency, which has been good as I worked in a variety of schools. It's just that these schools haven't felt quite right, which has left me feeling a bit disheartened and lost.
I just want a job that is permanent, that uses my creative and that I enjoy. A bit of stability would be nice.
Things were looking up last week when I thought I'd gotten a great job, which I was excited to start. However, when starting on Monday they had decided to change what my role was, which was the opposite to what I'd applied for. So now it feels like I'm back to square one.
It has left me with having Christmas off, which is kind of nice. I'm choosing to look at it positively and as you'll know from previous posts I believe things happen for a reason. So for me I'm trying to see it as I'm meant to relax over Christmas and I'll get a job in the New Year.

It'll give me time to focus on blogging and spending time with my family.
You may have noticed some wedding posts starting to appear on here, but don't think I'm not posting my normal posts. I thought it would be nice to share parts of planning, decisions and the journey itself. After all I post about fashion, beauty and lifestyle and it does incorporate all of those.
I hope you enjoy reading and seeing my inspiration and decisions.

Wish List Wednesday

Tigi Bed Head Party Girl Set

Looking through websites trying to find pieces I can mix and match with but that will also keep me warm.
These are just a few pieces that have caught my eye. Without noticing I've picked a few pieces with high necks which isn't something I usually get. When I saw them they made me think about being cozy and warm.
I'm in desperate need of a new pair of flat boots. These boots are perfect and could be worn with anything.

Monday Musings

I can't believe that it is nearly Christmas.
This year has oddly felt the least Christmasy this year. We put our tree up towards the end of November in order to try and get us in the Christmas mood. Sadly it failed but it's been great to look at and to remind us what time of year it is. It has got me thinking about how as kids Christmas is such a magical time of year and how we're full of excitement and joy. That's an amazing time and as adults we leave that behind. You have the rare few adults who still have the same feel about Christmas but for the rest is another day.
For me I'm in the middle, but this year I think I feel less in the Christmas mood because Ian and I are thinking about our wedding. All our planning and buying has been for the wedding so I think it's natural that Christmas has been put to the back of our minds.
So in order to try and get into the Christmas spirit we're going to watch Christmas films, eat Christmasy food and do Christmasy things. Before it's too late and we've missed it all. Until next year that is.
I hope you're all enjoying the joys of Christmas.

Wedding Shoe Choices

As Ian and I have set a date with not a lot of time to go. I've decided to start looking at shoes. It may seem an odd place to start, but I figure when picking my dress I should have the shoes I'm going to wear. As then I can see how they look together and how the height works with the dress length. For me I want shoes that feel special without looking like a typical wedding shoes. I wanted shoes I could wear again and again.
These are some of the shoes I've been looking at. I know I want a bit of sparkle and these shoes from New look are by far my favourite. I don't know what it is about them but when I saw them I just new I wanted them so I have got them and I love them even more.
The converse are purely an after thought as I can change into them for comfort.
